Cynthia Mendez is passionate about issues of social justice, equality and health policy. She will graduate in 2014 from the UCLA PRIME program through Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science and David Geffen School of Medicine. She is pursing her MD and MPH or MPP and looks forward to practicing as a physician within medically underserved communities. She also plans to continue to motivate and advocate for young Latinos to pursue careers in medicine, particularly to bridge the gap between California’s Latino physicians and Latino communities. In the future, she sees herself drafting health policy that will ultimately improve health care access and health outcomes for California’s urban and rural populations.
