Juan Guerra, M.D.

juan-guerra-1Dr. Juan Guerra has focused his efforts as an OB/GYN generalist on providing compassionate, quality health care to all Kaiser Permanente members. In particular, he is to provide culturally and linguistically congruent health care to monolingual Spanish speakers. As a Latino physician, he is proud to serve as a role model to patients, medical students and residents. Clinically, he strives to empower patients by educating them, emphasizing prevention as the key to health. He also follows the practice of evidence-based medicine while performing clinical duties.

The breadth of his teaching activities have focused primarily on medical students and residents, stressing the practice of evidence-based medicine and emphasizing the importance of excellent interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, ancillary staff and especially patients. Over the last three years, his interest in mentoring premedical students has blossomed into the creation of the Women’s Health Undergraduate Research Internship, a collaboration with the UCSF School of Medicine to develop a medical educational community that is aware of the current health care needs of California and is striving to address them.
